"I have been working with Philip Treacy for many years now, he introduced me to the late Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen. I feel that Philip Treacy, Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen have been amongst the most inspiring people I have ever met and I thank them for giving me the vision and guidance to lead me into what I create today.
Working with them in the basement of Philip's studio in Elizabeth Street is where it all happened, it was like walking into another world, a surreal world filled with Philip's fantastical and magical creations, it truly was like a scene out of the Lewis Carrol book Alice in Wonderland."
Philip Treacy has become the world's most famous milliner. His pieces are high in demand from European aristocrats to Hollywood royalty and he has collaborated with the Crème de la Crème of fashion. In our first edition of The Protagonist Magazine it has - without question - been essential to include Philip Treacy as the person that our Editor in Chief has collaborated with for his first ever shoot and continues to work with on many occasions. Not only did the first contact with Philip Treacy encourage Ram Shergill to set out as a fashion photographer but he continues to be a source of creative inspiration.
“I have had the greatest pleasure of having the opportunity to challenge people's perception of what a hat should look like in the 21st century. I make hats because I love hats. It's an enigmatic object that serves the human purpose only of beautification and embellishment, and making one feel good, whether you’re the observer of the spectacle or the wearer”
