A New Scent by Atelier Des Ors
Writing and Photography by Daen Palma Huse
The enticing French perfumery Atelier Des Ors surprises us with a new scent named Musc Immortel that completes their range of now seven fragrances. Created by expert nose Marie Salamagne, Musc Immortel has top notes of grapefruit, clary sage absolute and iris – heart notes of cypriol, patchouli, Haitian vetiver and base notes are ambrette, immortelle absolute and musks.
As a complex yet well rounded eau de parfum, the fragrance is sure to take perfume lovers into its ban, not just now or tomorrow, but perhaps forever – especially if we believe what the name suggests, which in fact seemed not too hard for me once the fragrance had touched my skin and I had explored the fragrances notes throughout the day. Musc Immortel is named after the Immortelle flower, which is a golden bloom flower valued for its long lasting warm scent.
As tradition with Atelier Des Ors, the scent comes in the beautifully shaped flacon that holds gold flakes within. Particularly with Musc Immortel, the flacon and aesthetic of the brand seem to emanate the soul of this particular fragrance.
In a series of special editions, Atelier Des Ors now also launches limited flacons that are gilded with different gold designs. The brands’ gilder artist Jean-Christophe has long years of experience restoring monuments such as church ceilings, statues, palaces… – the same technique that is in fact now applied by him to decorating the flacons, proving that the brand does not merely aim at a ‘wow’ factor when it comes to gilding perfume flacons – but that in fact it is the honest and heartfelt essence making the brand special together with the scents hidden inside the flacons.
Jean-Philippe Clermont at the London launch of Music Immortel
Co-Founder and Creative Director Jean-Philippe Clermont confirms with us that Atelier Des Ors has enjoyed worldwide success – with even a boutique in Melbourne stocking the perfumes and making perfume lovers excited in Australia. Needless to mention that European and British noses have valued Atelier des Ors range since it first appeared on the market a couple of years back.
Jean-Philippe strikes us as an intelligent and sensible character that has managed to bring to life his creative vision of the brand together with a team of trusted individuals that hold great experience in what they do. We at The Protagonist Magazine believe that luxury brands with a genuine creative background and, when it comes to fragrance, sincere interest in the art of perfumery, will bring more joy to the people that fall in love with the scents than anything else. From what we can see Atelier Des Ors is in such trusted hands with Jean-Philippe and his team and we are looking forward to see what other surprises they might have in store for us in the future!
Musc Immortel is a Harrods Worldwide Exclusive out now and available in London.
